I Need a Man

  • Mood: Sleepy, Sleepy, Sleepy
  • Music: Hero

Sleepy this morning as I was up until 2:00 a.m. finishing Alison Kent’s “Goes Down Easy” – good book!  Anyway, yes folks you read it correctly.  I need a man.  Not just any man, but a hero – a potential love interest in a future book.  Why am I asking now and what does this have to do with the current WIP?  Because he’s Skye’s brother Scott and I need to have his “character likeness” picked out because he is in this book.  Criteria:  Not brunette.  Brothers Ethan, Jordan and Ross are brunettes.   And around Hugh Jackman’s age – that’s it, easy right?.  If you need a refresher on Skye, archive back to January 2 of this year – there’s a picture of her there.  While I don’t think they have to look a lot alike, it would be nice if there were similarities – she’s blond and blue-eyed.  Just give me names and I’ll google them.  What do you get in return?  A brand-spanking new copy of Jill Shalvis’ “Room Service” that’s what.  And if you have it already, or (gasp) you have no intentions of reading it – give me a suggestion anyway and I’ll give the book to the next best entry.  On second thought – if you have no intentions of reading it … what are you doing here? LOL

Speaking of books – don’t forget that this Friday is book draw day.

Wednesday joke:

A couple had been debating the purchase of a new auto for weeks. He wanted a new truck. She wanted a fast little sports-like car so she could zip through traffic around town. He would probably have settled on any beat up old truck, but everything she seemed to like was way out of their price range.

"Look!" she said. "I want something that goes from 0 to 200 in 4 seconds or less. And my birthday is coming up. You could surprise me."

So, for her birthday, he bought her a brand new bathroom scale.

Services will be at Downing Funeral Home on Monday the 12th. Due to the condition of the body, this will be a closed casket service. Please send your donations to the "Think Before You Say Things To Your Wife Foundation," Dallas, Texas
.

51 total marks.

They call that justified homicide, don't they? I've already got Room Service and DO plan to read it eventually, but I'll make a hero suggestion anyway: Matthew McConaughey. I hope that's how to spell it....

I think its justified!

Matthew McConaughey is a thought (and I can't spell it either)

I've heard that joke before and it's still a stinger...

Suggestion: How 'bout the new James Bond? Sorry, I'm not sure of his name.

Susan: Eric Dane and Patrick Dempsey

Posted by Eve Mardis:

Okay - just froze up again - I tried to put a smilie after Christa's first post. The problem seems to be pop-ups. Hmmmm, checked my pop-up stuff and its fine. Plus Dennie's response section is a pop-up - and it's not blocking them, it's just freezing the computer.

Anyway, I'll check on those because I'm not familiar with the first two - and I can't think of the new James Bond name either.

Off to see if it does it on other pop-up response blogs. If so, I'm shutting down for an hour or two.

Patrick Dempsey I'm familiar with. Have to look up Eric Dane and Dylan McRooney

that joke - LOL that's too funny - and soooo..... wrong! hahaha

Daniel Craig is the new James Bond. Saw him in "Munich" and he's not my type at all. That may be because of the character he was playing. Too harsh. I know I'm showing my age here, but you can't beat Paul Newman when he was young. Even today he's still got it! BTW love the joke . . .
Wednesday, February 22nd 2006 @ 10:56 AM

Posted by Eve Mardis:

Dennie - it's hysterical! You'll love Room Service.
Siobhan - yes, Daniel Craig - I have to say that I'm not that impressed with him - he's no Pierce or Sean. But I'll give him another lookover.
Okay folks, I've re-booted the computer, so I'm going to give this another try.
Wednesday, February 22nd 2006 @ 11:22 AM

Posted by Eve Mardis:

No, I meant the joke is hysterical - not Room Service. Sheesh.
Wednesday, February 22nd 2006 @ 11:24 AM

Sorry Eve
I got the name all mixed up. It's Dermott Mulruney. He was in My best Friend's Wedding.

Check out my blog. I've got a flickr badge going on with tonz of hunks. Click on one and see if you get what you like. Of course, there's always the hot blonde of "Fast & the Furious." :)

Dermott Mulruney - I love him! But he's a brunette? Hmmmm, I'll have to think about that.
Silma! Thanks for coming by - I'll check it out.

I need a man too - but you won't catch me hiding behind excuses or so called heroes for books. No, I need a man to grant my 3rd birthday wish. The first two may have been sorted already.

How about Hugh Jackman with dyed blonde hair?

Or Robert Redford circa Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid? Oh no, probably too young.

John Simm might be a good one. He's in a TV show called Life on Mars over here at the moment, on the BBC. He's quite nice in a rugged kind of way. (Think his name's John Simm - he plays the role of Sam Tyler.) www.bbc.co.uk

Diane - you saw right through me Glad you got the first two sorted out - maybe you'll find #3 then?
A younger Robert Redford - there's a thought. I'll check up on John Simm.

Yeah, but Demott's so cute as a brunette. And he's one of those people that I have a hard time finding a picture of that I like. Even the picture in People's Sexiest Man Alive issue isn't good - but he's just scrumptious on-screen.

Did you see him in The Wedding Date with Debra Messing? They showed his naked butt.

Geez! Run errands and go to class at Church and I miss all the fun. I like everyones suggestion. But, the new Bond leaves me cold. Brosnon was the BEST! Haven't seen the wedding date yet. Was it good? Mullrooney(sp?) looked so cute in that!

Oh man Christa and Brandy - yes that butt is magnificent - I have that movie!!!! Okay, off to bed now, I mustn't read until 2 in the morning again.

Brandy - yes, IMHO, Brosnan is the best!

An old married couple went to a marriage seminar given by their church. They sat together as the speaker discussed the importance of knowing the little things about your mate. He asked, "Gentlemen, how many of you know your wife's favorite flower?"
The old man leaned over, put his hand tenderly on his wife's arm, and whispered sweetly, "It's Gold Medal, isn't it, darling?"

I'm such a huge movie and TV fan--not at the moment at least--I can't think of a single guy, i.e., of course, any guy that might qualify. Someone mentioned the movie "Eight Below" on another blog. Just went to see the guy who's starring: Paul Walker (I). Not bad-looking and he's blond. Picture isn't all that great on IMDB.

Bradley Cooper of Alias was blond but I can't find a picture of him to try to conform age and hair color,

Scott Speedman looked pretty good. He was in Felicity. Probably too young too.

I've just been to the archives to see Skye on Jan. 2 and there's no picture.

BTW, please pray for my sister-in-law's father. Just while she was here Tues. night to drop something off and say "hi" to my sister who was visiting, her cell phone rang. We saw her close her eyes. When she got off she said her father had fallen and broken his hip. I wonder if it's the same leg into which they tried to put a shunt for his dialysis. It didn't work. They're down to his neck for dialysis. Both he and his wife are just holding on for each other. Ausma has pancreatic cancer and is taking chemo. Their prospects are not good. If Ausma dies, Jock will soon follow. He needs dialysis because of diabetes. So both essentially have problems with the same organ: the pancreas. They've tried to keep from him how serious Ausma's illness is. I just had to think of this when I saw that Bebo's mom is doing well. Both of Donna's parents are in their early 80s. They are such nice people. She especially has had a very hard life, losing most of her family to the Soviet invasion of Latvia. Only one other brother escaped but she didn't know where he was for more than 30 years. They finally saw each other again at the wedding of my brother and sister-in-law 30 years ago this summer. Her brother has died in the meantime.

Fortunately, there are 3 doctors in their family who are doing their best for their uncle and aunt, father- and mother-in-law respectively.

If you want blond, it has to be a taller version of Steve McQueen - from his younger (well, alive) days.

That was a funny joke! I'll have to remember that when I need a real smart-ass response.

Posted by Eve Mardis:

Butterfly - great joke! And I had forgotten about Michael Shanks.
Christa - uh, no.

Ruby - Bradley Cooper is an idea - Bebo and I like him. The picture wasn't there? It was there when I wrote this piece - it's down near the bottom with Hugh Jackman. Prayers for your sister-in-law's father.
Shirley - a young Steve McQueen would be good.
Scott - do you have good life insurance?

How 'bout Viggo Morgensen?
Thursday, February 23rd 2006 @ 1:30 PM

Posted by Melissa:

No idea where my comment went from yesterday...
But anyway, here is my two cents:

Ryan Sutter.

YUM.
Thursday, February 23rd 2006 @ 1:31 PM

Posted by Eve Mardis:

Susie - Viggo is good - and since Scott (the character - not our Scott - AND the name was picked out eons ago) is a cowboy, I can find plenty of pictures of him with a Cowboy hat (Hidalgo)
Melissa - it probably went to blogland heaven like a lot of comments do - Ryan Sutter - probably know him, just can't put a face with the name. I'll go look him up now.

What do you mean no Vin Diesel? That man is hot! Eve, I'm disappointed in you. :P

Posted by Eve Mardis:

You and Bebo - I just don't see this character in him. Think Brad Pitt in Thelma and Louis - but older. I don't know ...
Friday, February 24th 2006 @ 7:50 AM

Posted by Susie:

Yeah for Viggo. I think he looks like the actor you chose for Skye. They look like they could be brother and sister.
