Hi folks – kind of sluggish here this morning and last night was shot - I’ll explain more in a moment, but first:  Brandy wants more pictures of my cats, so on Mondays I’ll post a new one.  Here’s Seamas Declan – A.K.A. Bubba the Red-Necked Kitty.

 

 

 

 

 

Around 7:00 last night Bebo received a phone call – her mother had fallen on the ice and she was being transported to a hospital near here (she lives near Terrell for you Texans).  Bebo took off for the hospital of course and I started the waiting game.  Turns out her mother broke her femur just below the ball-joint in her left hip.  They called it a specific type of break, but Bebo can’t remember what they called it.  Anyway, she’ll be having surgery today – they will just do a hip replacement.  Because of the ice on the roads I waited up for her to come home – it was close to midnight before I crawled into bed, later before I fell asleep.  Combine that with the arthritis which is giving my fingers, knees and hips fits, its been a slow morning.  I haven’t even been to Jill’s blog yet!  I have a couple of chores to get to this morning, so I’ll be slow to get to everyone’s blogs – I know, you’ll miss my early morning wit – come on, admit it.

 

The ice wasn’t so bad – our highways are terrible of course, with all of the overpasses.  And we have some areas of what is called “black ice” because of the drizzle and fog which iced up on the surface.  Our ramp is inaccessible and the garage door has suddenly decided not to work right (I’m hoping it’s the weather), so if we have to go out the front, we are forced to climb down the two-tiered (brick) flower bed using the ramp railings for balance.  Should all clear up today as the temp just now got to 32 and will be in the lower 40s by this afternoon.  It was a good weekend to tuck in.

Yes, I had missed you. Hope Bebo's mom gets over the operation okay. And hope your garage door starts to behave.

Hope everything will go well with Bebo's mom and I'll keep my fingers crossed it's just the weather affecting your garage door.
BTW even though I'm not from Texas, I found Terrell on a map, also found Pleasant Grove. My friend's husband left his Road Atlas here for his wife cause she keeps phoning him from her truck on her runs and asking him if he knows where a certain place is cause he's got the trusty map.

And oh please, let the garage door behave because we really can't afford to have someone come and fix it - not only that, but I would have to call to have someone come and fix and it I don't like phone calls!!!! Brandy knows exactly what I mean!

Yikes! Sounds like a disaster of a Sunday and a of a Monday. Hope Bebo's mum is on the mend and your garage door too! The weather has been really weird here also. BTW thanks for stopping by and for your kind wishes. The hard candy is working a treat!

Thanks Siobhan. The hard candy works because it keeps the throat coated and the drainage kind of slides on down, therefore it lessens the tickling cough and a bit of the sore throat.

How scary! Good thoughts to Bebo and her mom. BTW, thanks, I got Shalvis on Saturday :) Can't wait to read it.

It is a very detailed map. Pleasant Grove is depicted by a small black dot. It would have to be for them to find the places they have to deliver to, closest highways and truck stops.

It's supposed to help, but ice is ice. Fortunately, it's nice and shiny so we could see the ice. It's going now. The other ramp was slippery even in the rain! (In case anyone is wondering - Bebo's mom didn't slip on our ramp) Hey you picked the right weekend! We're finally up to 36 degrees!

We had our own adventure with the ice. You know DH just got the new truck. Well, we took it Sunday morning to church, but never made it there. The ice on the on-ramp to 30 got us and the front end is all messed up. Worst of all, I was driving. We're fine, got knocked around a bit, J bumped his head. Needless to say, we didn't make it to church. I was able to drive the truck home but didn't get back out until later that evening to get pizza, and then driving good old Goldie (my Honda Civic).

Roads were good this morning driving to work. Got on to 175 but traffic was backed up so exited the highway and made my way through S. Dallas neighborhoods to get to work downtown. Avoided all ramps and long bridges that were likely to be icy. Now that I'm safely at work, hopeful the roads will be even better later after warmer temps today. Thought I'd bring back Kay Hooper this evening. I'll call you this evening before I head over.

Hey Suze - your picture was up on Saturday! Sorry about the accident - I'm glad you both are okay. Man, that was a pretty vehicle! The roads are fine now - at least the ramp is all thawed out.

Cleaned the car this morning and then had a Mexican standoff with a police car--and we all know who moves in those circumstances right? Even with a dangerously busy road toi reverse onto and small child in the back. I prefer my cops fictional!!

My sister's cat is husky too(not fat) and really, really furry.

I've trying to figure out this F&C degrees business but it requires too much thinking. According to the weather network it is 44`F and 7`C in Dallas and -4`C here. The highest we're gonna get is 3` on Sat.
