EXCERPTS FROM A CAT'S DIARY

DAY 752 - My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling
objects. They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while I am forced to eat dry
cereal. The only thing that keeps me going is the hope of escape and
the
mild satisfaction I get from ruining the occasional piece of furniture.
Tomorrow I may eat another houseplant.

DAY 761 - Today my attempt to kill my captors by weaving around their
feet
while they were walking almost succeeded, must try this at the top of
the
stairs. In an attempt to disgust and repulse these vile oppressors, I
once
again induced myself to vomit on their favorite chair...must try this
on
their bed.

DAY 765 - Decapitated a mouse and brought them the headless body, in
attempt
to make them aware of what I am capable of, and to try to strike fear
into
their hearts. They only cooed and condescended about what a good little
cat
I was...Hmmm. Not working according to plan.

DAY 768 - I am finally aware of how sadistic they are. For no good
reason I
was chosen for the water torture. This time however it included a
burning
foamy chemical called "shampoo." What sick minds could invent such a
liquid?

My only consolation is the piece of thumb still stuck between my teeth.

DAY 771 - There was some sort of gathering of their accomplices. I was
placed in solitary throughout the event. However, I could hear the
noise and
smell the foul odor of the glass tubes they call "beer." More
importantly I
overheard that my confinement was due to MY power of "allergies." Must
learn
what this is and how to use it to my advantage.

DAY 774 - I am convinced the other captives are flunkies, and maybe
snitches. The dog is routinely released and seems more than happy to
return.
He is obviously a half-wit. The bird on the other hand has got to be an
informant, and speaks with them regularly. I am certain he reports my
every
move. Due to his current placement in the metal room, his safety is
assured.
But I can wait; it is only a matter of time...

Very cute, the world through the eyes of dogs and cats. Somehow there seems to be a bit of bias towards cats. Is it just me?

The thing is--it just shows what happy loving personalities dogs have. And nobody can tell me dogs aren't smart--they don't use cats to unearth people from avalanches, earthquakes ect. Guide the blind ect ect. Mans best friend, baby.
Cats are are temperamental as humans :P

I like cats... or at least I used to.

I know some very intelligent cats and very dumb dogs - and vice versa. I think that there are many different personalities and IQ's in both breeds - just like people. Cats are just more stubborn in training because, unlike dogs, they don't live to please - but they can be just as protective (I've experienced that personally)and are capable of learning complex tasks. They both have important places in society.
Peggy - yeah, it's a good laugh!

OH HOW TRUE!!!
Dogs are a riot! I love both of mine...then the cats! Ah I love them too!! Cats are so independent of us humans unlike our dogs! Altnough my BooBoo has decided she really does like me better than the neighbor! :) But that could just be because I have been home so MUCH!!

only 2 more day :)

I'd like to see inside a cat's mind for one day. I bet they can be protective. I'd quite like a cat--but DH isn't keen. However his beloved DD wants one so one day...maybe when we only have dog. I'm slightly allergic but we'd cope. Better??

Glenice - two more days!!! Bebo has bought the booze and I picked up a couple of new(er) games yesterday. We're going to have so much fun! And remember your offer of help? I have some small jobs lined up for you Saturday - just putting up shelves and such - YOU OFFERED!
Toni - on a TV show the other day they had a story about a couple who were housebound - their cat kept going to the front door and meowing, but not wanting to go out when the woman went to the door. Finally, she realized that the cat wanted her to follow it and stepped outside (on crutches) and followed the cat around to the side of the house where the cat began digging furiously in a rock garden - cutting its paws in the process. The woman suddenly smelled gas. She called the gas company who came and checked the meter and said everything was fine. She asked him to check the area where the cat was digging and he reluctantly complied. He was astounded when the meter went off the chart. There was a pocket/leak and if they hadn't found it the people's house would have blown up, along with about other homes around it. Not only that, but the gas was making the homeowners ill. Okay - that's my last defense for cats for the day - much better now - hope DD get's her kitty.

Susan - you jumped in while I was posting!! Glad you enjoyed it.
Why all of the short posts and jokes all week? I can't seem to shake the sleepiness this week - it's the depression and my mind hurts if I think too much. Also, trying to get this house together somewhat for Glenice's visit - making little headway. Oh, post office is off for today as mom is acting a bit strange this morning so I don't want to leave her - but everything is in the envelopes and addressed - maybe I'll be able to pop out this afternoon?

Yes I did! Her name was Honeybun and she was 1 year old when we got her from my aunt in 1969 (already named). She was a dachsund - and she was special. She lived until she was almost 15. I had a cat named Shelby that I got in 1978. Honeybun thought that Shelby was her "puppy" and Shelby would give Honeybun baths. Honeybun had a bed that dad built for her - if Shelby was in the bed first, Honeybun would make her get out of the bed, then Honeybun would get in and "make" the bed, settle down and look at Shelby, who would then get in the bed and they would sleep together. So there!
Jana! Back me up here. I'll have to find a picture.

What a lovely story! My mother had a Doberman and a cat that loved each other to bits. The Dobe (Chris) found the cat (abandoned kitten) and brought her into the house one day, carried gently in her mouth. She treated her as if she was her puppy. Then, when Mum took Chris for walks, Sooty would tag along too. They're both no longer with us, but it makes me smile just to think of them.
